New era of chronographs – new “Chronographe 1887” timepieces by Eberhard & Co.

Dear readers, since we were in momentum about luxury timepieces and Watches and Wonders, for those of you who had attended the watch fair in Geneva, have you stopped by the booth of the Swiss Maison, Eberhard & Co., when you were there? There are two good reasons to visit their booth because, first of all, it’s the first time for the brand to be part of the Watches and Wonders this year, secondly, taking advantage of this special occasion to meet all the watch connoisseurs and collectors there, they have unveiled two new chronograph timepieces during the fair! If you missed (or forgot about) it, no worries, here we are giving you a little recap to take a look at these two new luxury timepieces once again!

These two models are "Chronographe 1887 Édition Limitée" and "Chronographe 1887 Automatique" under the brand’s “1887” collection, one of the iconic collections of Eberhard & Co. that pays homage to the foundation date of the Swiss Maison, made up of both chronographs and time only watches. These two new models are the result of an in-depth “journey in time” undertaken by the Maison, whether it’s from the technical or aesthetic perspective, they both are the result of the desire of reinterpretation in a new form of chronographs that have made the history of the brand, and taking it to a new era.

“Chronographe 1887 Édition Limitée” is a hand-wound mechanical chronograph in a limited edition of 250 pieces, in terms of the movement, it is powered by the exclusive calibre, EB 280, developed in collaboration with Manufacture AMT, which equipped with a column wheel (“roue à colonnes”) and the fly-back complication, a complication of chronograph mechanics that originated around the 1930s used by aviation pilots to time the various phases of flight. Besides the movement, functionality and technical details are equally significant when it comes to chronographs, this “Chronographe 1887 Édition Limitée” model has no exception, which included a special lever allowing the chronograph reset button to be displaced coaxially to the crown, and an exclusive upper bridge of the chronograph gear-train with a personalised Shield shape (the maison's emblem) decorated with "Côtes de Genève" finishing, "1887" (the year the Maison was founded) engraved, and an engraved Shield enclosing an embossed "E". The modern and luxurious appeal with the round design with vintage inspired dial is available in black and white colors, the sapphire glass caseback that reveals the refined watch movement, matching with the luxurious black alligator leather straps, which makes it one of the most versatile timepieces for a modern and busy fine gents.

Meanwhile, the "Chronographe 1887 Automatique" also possessed the similar qualities, with its calibres in EB 380 also in collaboration with Manufacture AMT, is a self-winding mechanical chronograph, with a personalised decoration of the oscillating weight with "Côtes de Genève" and "colimaçon papier” finishing, engraved shield in 4N gold colour, as well as an "E" in blue. Once again, its vintage inspired numerals that contrasted with the clean functional dial in either white and black color, the polished round stainless steel case with sapphire glass caseback, matching with the luxurious embossed black alligator leather straps, which makes it a timeless sportier-looking timepiece for your weekend or travel days.
