Viennese dark beauty – Waltz N°1 Moll by Carl Suchy & Söhne
Dear readers, for those of you who are luxury timepiece collectors and connoisseurs, will you consider to make a trip to Geneva this April? Not only because the pinnacle watch event, ‘Watches and Wonders’, will take place there, there’s also another exciting and prominent watch expo, ‘Time to Watches’, which will be held there in early April too! But what if you cannot be able to make it this year? Well, don’t be discouraged just yet! There’s always a way to see and appreciate luxury timepieces (or at the very least, let’s stick to my blog!), about two weeks ago I was thrilled to hear that one of the ‘Time to Watches’ exhibitor, also, one of my beloved Viennese luxury timepiece brand, Carl Suchy & Söhne, has recently unveiled their new ‘Waltz N°1 Moll’ timepiece, this sophisticated new model which marks not just the fresh start of the year, but also a gentle reminder to all fine watch connoisseurs that the prominent watch expo is just about a month ahead!
Debut in February 2024, this new model presents itself in a much fascinating look; based on the successful of the brand’s Waltz N°1 model, the iconic design that stays true to the elegance of Viennese modernism, which inspired by the minimalistic aesthetic of the renowned Viennese architect, Adolf Loos, the new watch gives a much powerful form of expression and emotional minor key, which known as ‘Moll’, the well-balanced interplay of contrast and shading symbolizes the musical expressive quality of a waltz in a minor key; so how does it translate into this new watch when it comes to the design? Well, the main feature is the rotating second disc at the 6-o’clock position, which uses a vivid black, to capture one’s attention when the timepiece is functioning in its motion, second by second, contrasting with the brand’s signature and artfully guilloché patterned dial, which makes it a unique sight of perfect synchronicity like waltzing in grand Viennese ball.
Understated yet profound, clean-line elegant and modern, this new timepiece has combined the first-class Viennese craftsmanship and contemporary artistry which the brand is known for, the movement is the mechanical self-winding caliber VMF 5401 by Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier, made with 29 rubies, with the mechanism visible through a transparent sapphire crystal case-back. The polished round case was made in silver and black steel case in extra slim at 9.3mm height, this watch has a power reserve of up to 48 hours, available in luxurious thin cushioned black leather strap or alligator strap.
To make this timepiece much unique and exclusive, Waltz N°1 Moll is only available in 10 pieces as a limited edition! Just when you were thinking of which beloved timepiece you are going to wear to attend the upcoming fine watch expo in Geneva, guess what? You may just found one in here!
